چکیده

We examine emission from a young protostellar object (YPO) with threedimensional ideal MHD simulations and three-dimensional non-local thermodynamic equilibrium (non-LTE) line transfer calculations, and show the first results. To calculate the emission field, we employed a snapshot result of an MHD simulation having young bipolar outflows and a dense protostellar disk (a young circumstellar disk) embedded in an infalling envelope. The Physical Natures of Class I and Flat - Spectrum Protostellar

We present high resolution (R ≃ 18,000), high signal-to-noise, 2 µm spectra of 52 infrared-selected Class I and flat-spectrum young stellar objects in the Taurus-Auriga, ρ Ophiuchi, Serpens, Perseus, and Corona Australis dark clouds. We detect key absorption lines in 41 objects and fit synthetic spectra generated from pre-main sequence models to deduce the effective temperatures, surface gravit...

Pre-Orion Cores in the Trifid Nebula

The Trifid nebula is a young HII region undergoing a burst of star formation. In this article, we report on far-infrared and millimeter continuum and line observations of several massive and bright protostellar sources in the vicinity of the exciting star of the nebula, just behind the ionization front. These objects are probably young protostars (Class 0) and are associated with very massive c...

Dust emission from young outflows : the case of L 1157

We present new high-sensitivity 1.3 mm bolometer observations of the young outflow L 1157. These data show that the continuum emission arises from four distinct components: a circumstellar disk, a protostellar envelope, an extended flattened envelope –the dense remnant of the molecular cloud in which the protostar was formed–, and the outflow itself, which represents ∼20% of the total flux. The...

YSO Jets and Molecular Outflows: Tracing the History of Star Formation

Collimated outflows from Young Stellar Objects (YSOs) can be seen as tracers of the accretion powered systems which drive them. In this paper I review some theoretical and observational aspects of YSO outflows through the prism of questions relating to the protostellar source. The issue I address is: can collimated outflows be used as “fossils” allowing the history of protostellar evolution to ...

Massive Star Formation in the Molecular Ring Orbiting the Black Hole at the Galactic Center

A ring of dense molecular gas extending 2-7 pc orbits the supermassive black hole Sgr A* at the center of our Galaxy. Using the Green Bank Telescope, we detected water maser lines and both narrow (0.35 km s) and broad (30 50 km s) methanol emission from the molecular ring. Two of the strongest methanol lines at 44 GHz are confirmed as masers by interferometric observations. These class I methan...
